Extremely Rare and Vintage Taxco sterling silver Vintage Quetzalcoatl pendant on a awesome JADE necklace. The pendant features a full image of Quetzalcoatl the Feathered Serpent executed in an ancient style!
This treasure is stunning and made by (TM-81) (JVC) who is a noted Maestro by Hougart in THE LITTLE BOOK OF MEXICAN SILVER TRADE AND HALLMARKS pg 120
Necklace is approx 20" long made from an outstanding strand of JADE and is finished off with a traditional native sterling silver figure 8 and hook closure system.
It simply doesn't get any better than this! True Native artistry at it's best!

Quetzalcoatl ("feathered serpent" or "plumed serpent") is the Nahuatl name for the Feathered-Serpent deity of ancient Mesoamerican culture. In Mesoamerican myth Quetzalcoatl is also a culture hero from whom almost all mesoamerican (Native American) peoples claim descent. Quetzalcóatl, Mayan name Kukulcán, (from Nahuatl quetzalli, “tail feather of the quetzal bird [Pharomachrus mocinno],” and coatl, “snake”), the Feathered Serpent, one of the major deities of the ancient Mexican pantheon. Representations of a feathered snake occur as early as the Teotihuacán civilization (3rd to 8th century CE) on the central plateau. At that time Quetzalcóatl seems to have been conceived as a vegetation god—an earth and water deity closely associated with the rain god Tlaloc. With the immigration of Nahua-speaking tribes from the north, Quetzalcóatl’s cult underwent drastic changes. The subsequent Toltec culture (9th through 12th centuries), centred at the city of Tula, emphasized war and human sacrifice linked with the worship of heavenly bodies. Quetzalcóatl became the god of the morning and evening star, and his temple was the centre of ceremonial life in Tula.
Kukulkan (/kuːkuːlˈkän/) ("Plumed Serpent", "Feathered Serpent") was the name of a Mesoamerican (Native American) serpent deity. Kukulkan was worshipped by the Yucatec Maya peoples of the Yucatán Peninsula, in what is now Mexico. The depiction of the Feathered Serpent is present in other cultures of Mesoamerica. Kukulkan is closely related to the deity Q'uq'umatz of the K'iche' people and to Quetzalcoatl of Aztec mythology Kukulkan has his origins among the Maya of the Classic Period, when he was known as Waxaklahun Ubah Kan (/waʃaklaˈχuːn uːˈɓaχ kän/), the War Serpent, and he has been identified as the Postclassic version of the Vision Serpent of Classic Maya art. Kukulkan/Quetzalcoatl was the first Mesoamerican religion to transcend the old Classic Period linguistic and ethnic divisions tha facilitated communication and peaceful trade among peoples of many different social and ethnic backgrounds. Sizeable temples to Kukulkan are found at archaeological sites throughout the north of the Yucatán Peninsula, such as Chichen Itza, Uxmal and Mayapan
